Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
Psalm 27:14 (NIV)
It puts a smile on my face to know that you are pursuing the passion that I've placed inside of your heart. Apart from that, I do however know that in some aspects of your life you thought you would've been further in life than you are right now. You thought that the breakthrough would've come by now or that your 5-year plan was going to work out.
You hoped, but then it didn't work out, and now you don't even know if waiting for an answer is still an option.
Joseph thought the same. Do you remember that he also had a few dreams (Genesis 37)? He got so excited about his dream of royalty and wealth, that he shared it with his family. His brothers however did not share in his excitement and threw him into a cistern, where he was later sold to the Ismaelites by his brothers to be taken to Egypt. I can surely say that his life motto at that stage wasn't "Dreams do come true".
It wasn't that his dreams didn't have meaning or purpose My child, I did give him a glimpse of what was going to happen in the future, but the dream that he had in his heart after I revealed the vision to him was his dream for his life, and not Mine.
He was sold to Potiphar, an Egyptian who was one of Pharaoh's officials and he worked his way up in Potiphar's house (Genesis 39:5). When he was falsely accused by Potiphar's wife and thrown into jail, it was only part of the process where his character was built. He learned something about being dependent on Me, about humility, and seeing life from the view of the rich and the poor. He was able to relate to people and therefore when he started working for Pharaoh he viewed things from a different perspective. People respected him and entrusted their belongings to him.
When he was alone, I was his comforter, when he had nothing, I was his everything, when people falsely accused him, he found his identity in Me. When he lacked knowledge, I gave him wisdom to unanswered questions. When others looked down on him, I showed him favor. When he was a stranger in a foreign land, I called him My child. When all hope was lost and he thought he had nothing, he realized that he had Me, and that was enough.
The Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.
Genesis 39:21 (NIV)
And as his brothers stood in front of him, not as brothers but as beggars, they didn't even recognize him as their brother. It wasn't just his physical appearance that changed during those seasons but it was a change of his heart as well. He was able to look at them without hate or envy, even after what they've done to him. He felt compassion and love for them because he knew what it felt like to be at the lowest level of dependence. My dream for him came true on that day My child. He was able to see the vision that I gave him from My point of view.
What was meant for evil, I turned into good, not only for Joseph but for a whole nation. Where drought wanted to steal and destroy, I used Joseph and his circumstances to provide for the nation in abundance.
I'm not done with you, everything that happened in your life is not by chance. Some parts felt more unfair than others. Life isn't fair dear one, you are living in a sinful world, but you are only in it and not from it. Believe in Me and trust that I will reveal My dreams and My plans for you.
Joseph had a relationship with Me, he didn't just know about Me, but he knew Me personally. In every season of his life, I revealed a different part of Myself to him. Maybe it's time to stop asking the question WHY, and start asking Me to reveal a part of Myself to you in this season that I couldn't reveal to you in other seasons of life.
I'm not going to give you what you want, I rather want to give you what you need, so that others can be blessed through your life.
Eyes on Me
Love you always and forever,
Dad
