I can still see your grandmother begging you to never look into the sun directly. Remember she always used to read and listen to the news. After hearing what happened to the two boys who had a competition to see who could look into the sun the longest, she feared that if she didn't warn you, you would walk with thick glass lenses for the rest of your life, just like those boys had to.
Today I want to ask you something, just like your gran did a few years ago, but there is a difference. She asked you to not look into the sun, as the bright light could hurt your eyes and make you blind.
I'm not asking you to look into the sun, but what I am asking you is to look into My Son. I want you to see My bright light, become "blind" to all the fears and desires of the flesh. Not that you won't be aware of what is going on around you, but you will be so focused on what is set before you, that the fear of this world that is trying to surround you won't matter.
Look into My side, look at My hands and see Forgiveness, Mercy, Grace, and Never-ending Love. Look at the empty grave and see Salvation, Freedom, Healing, and Resurrection.
Put My Son, My Light at the center of attention. What does this mean? Well, kid, the only way to get rid of darkness is not to catch it and throw it out the window. No, darkness isn't something significant. And cannot even be defined on its own, rather than being the absence of light. Even the darkest night cannot hide a small candle of light.
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12 (NIV)
So let The Light in, look into My Son, and see how truth enters the room. Look into My Son and see how Love can even soften the hardest heart. Stop focusing so much on darkness and giving it the attention that it doesn't deserve. You've been praying for darkness to leave, maybe pray and ask for Light to enter. Shift the focus, move the attention, talk to The King and see how you become blind to what I like to call "secondhand sight". The only way that you could see is to put your eyes on Me.
For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.
Psalm 36:9 (NIV)
Love you, always and forever,
Dad
