No one ever before gazed upon the full splendor of God except his uniquely beloved Son, who is cherished by the Father and held close to his heart. Now that he has come to us, he has unfolded the full explanation of who God truly is!
John 1:18 (TPT)
I believe that there is definitely truth in the saying "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." Children imitate their parents, especially in character or certain qualities.
John is packed with truth and revelation about who Jesus is and what His relationship with Father God entails. Today we'll dive into a few verses in John to get a better understanding of this loving relationship.
A lot of people believe that "all roads lead to God", but in order for you to have certainty on where you are heading, you should probably know who God is. There is only one God and one way to get to Him and that is through Jesus Christ. Jesus, the Son of God is the only one who knows the Father and who has seen Him face to face. When He became flesh on the earth and took our sins upon Himself, He showed us the Father's heart. He made a way for us to enter into the presence of God. Jesus is the perfect imitation of God the Father because He is one with the Father (John 10:30).
What is the difference between Jesus and religion? They are quite the opposite dear friend. Religion is twisted, it tells you that you need to earn love, that you have to do a list of things to take your sins away. Jesus however came and met us in our sin and made a way for us to enter into a relationship with the Father.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 14:6 (NKJV)
Because we know Jesus as our savior, we not only have the assurance of eternity with God when we die, but we get to experience eternal life on earth as well. John 17:3 describes it in this way that knowing God, is eternal life.
Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
John 17:3 (NIV)
There is so much more the Father wants to reveal to you. He loves His Son so much, but He wants to have that same intimate relationship with you. Jesus made a way for you to know the Father, to speak to Him and hear His voice. Because they are one, Jesus understood the longing that His Father had to connect to His creation and so He willingly went through with the cross.
This is part of the prayer that Jesus prayed before His crucifixion. I want you to take your time and read through it. See Jesus praying to the Father, see Him praying for you. He is continually interceding for you (Romans 8:34).
"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one - I in them and you in me - so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”
John 17:20-26 (NIV)
