The mind of a soldier

anschegrob

We all have seen movies about war or spoke to someone who has been at the front lines of the battlefield, fighting for their country.

Soldiers dedicate their lives to their country. Going through months and months of drills and training. Broken down physically, mentally, and emotionally. It is never about the army suit or how many fans they have. It is about saving lives while laying your own life down for your country.

Although they have to face so many fears and obstacles, their moral values and respect for their country outways any possible distraction.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Ephesians 6:12 (NIV)

We are in a war, whether we want to believe it or not. This war is not against flesh and blood. Our purpose in God's army is to save lives for Christ, to bring hope, peace, and love wherever He sends us. As we commit ourselves to God's kingdom, there has to be a change. Our believes and values have to align with His word.

Once you commit yourself to something, you almost instantly have an enemy (John 10:10).

What our enemy does is he tries to win the war in our minds so that he can take up the rule in our hearts.

When we become followers of Christ it doesn't mean that we will never have to face persecution or problems in this world (John 16:33). My friend, if you are not facing any form of persecution, might I ask for whom are you fighting? An enemy only targets those who are against him.

The biggest war is the one in our minds. Arrows of lies, lust, and destruction are being aimed at us from all around. This is why it is so important to read and to stay in God's word. For every lie that the enemy throws at us, there is a firing arrow of truth written in God's word. For every temptation that Satan gave Jesus in the desert, Jesus answered him with truth and with scripture (Matthew 4).

- Game over.

We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and breakthrough every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God. We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One.

2 Corinthians 10:5 (TPT)

A soldier is expected to be alert and ready 24/7. We as soldiers of Christ should also be alert and ready. When the flesh and its desires start to speak louder than it has the right to. When emotions and feelings take rule in our hearts where love and wisdom should. When opinions and lies become more important than what He says. That is when we need to take captive every thought and make it known to God.

Do not prune and give attention to those seeds of lies and negativity that want to take root in your heart.
