"I need to tell you something..."

anschegrob

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Ephesians 4:29 (NIV)

Sometimes we face struggles in life or keep secrets in our hearts and the first thing we want to do is tell someone about these things. We want them to, in a way, tell us that the way we’re handling this situation is indeed the correct way. But we need to be careful whom we share our emotions with. Sharing our emotions and telling God all the things we’re facing should be our first priority. We tend to rush to people, telling them what we’re going through, searching for answers and different opinions from people.

What I’ve learned in life is that I’ll always choose the opinion someone gave me, that made me feel the best or uplifted me the most…and that is wrong.

Decisions in life shouldn't be driven by our emotions. Step one should be telling God what’s going on inside, sharing our feelings with Him and asking Him for wisdom. Step two would be finding an accountability partner who would give you advice; honest advice. Ask God to show you the people in your life that you can trust for honest advice. Those who will pray with you and won’t take you deeper into the pit that you’re already in.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
