I Am Present

anschegrob

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.

Psalm 139:1-3 (NIV)

My child, you believe that I am standing in your future and that I know all about the past. Oh, the mountains we've climbed, the views we saw, and all the promises of what is yet to come. It's the ebb and flow of life; thankful for the past, but eyes fixed on the horizon. That's a good thing kid, it's having faith and hope for the future. But today, I want you to pause and consider the present - all the emotions, excitement, fear, or maybe even uncertainty. I want you to know that I am here. Yes, I am the God of the past and the future, but I am also the God of the present (Psalm 139).

When I remind you of the present it is not to focus on all the bad things, but rather to identify where there is a need and to see Me standing right in the middle of it with you, being the provision to every single need that you might have. If you see the billboard DEPRESSION and SADNESS, see me taking that board down and replacing it with JOY, HOPE, and GLADNESS. It's not that I am ignoring the situation that you are in, but rather encouraging you to keep your eyes on The Provider and not on the "problem" that is trying so hard to have your attention.

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

Revelation 3:20 (NIV)

I am standing at the door of your heart. It's okay if you feel like things are not in order or the rooms are untidy. I don't mind sitting on the floor of your living room. I don't want perfect, I just want an open and hungry heart, and maybe a place to put down this picnic basket. I'm breaking the bread, I'm pouring the wine. Come and have communion with me. Nowhere else but here in your present situation, locking eyes with you. Tell me all about it, the good, the bad, and the in-between. Your heart is at home with Me, no need to keep things in. Soak in My presence, let My Spirit pour joy and healing over you like oil (Hebrews 1:9), drenching away all fear and uncertainties. Leaving only the fragrance of My presence for you and all around, to know that I am present.

And the best part of it all - you never have to leave this place, because I'm not planning on ever leaving your side.

I am here for the long run.

I Love you, always and forever

Dad
