So here’s what I’ve learned through it all:
Leave all your cares and anxieties at the feet of the Lord,
and measureless grace will strengthen you.
Psalm 55:22 (TPT)
When God gives you a promise, it doesn't always come with a plan. Throughout the process, we learn how to trust Him to show us the plan, although it might be one step at a time. God has far more in store for us than we can ever imagine. I think if we knew exactly how things would turn out, we would be overwhelmed by it all. Nevertheless, we would start to doubt that it could ever come to pass because we wouldn't believe that we would be able to achieve it.
With doubt, impatience, and uncertainties piled up, we start making our own plans. Sometimes we are acting as water sprinklers in the garden of our lives. The clouds are full of His overflowing provision, but we are making our plans, using up time and energy to water our own way, while it is raining.
Now I'm not implying that we ought to just sit back and enjoy the show, but what I am saying is that we have to calm down and listen. As simple as that may sound dear friend. I'm not waiting for 2022 to end for me to breathe again and ask God what's next. I want to trust Him day by day. Camping around His presence, drawing lines, writing drafts, planning with Him.
Let's take David for example. He was a hard worker. He knew the feeling of sweat dripping down his face and the warmth of the scorching sun on his back as he looked after the sheep in the field. As a soldier, he knew fear and I believe he had to clean more than one wound after every battle. As King, he had to answer difficult questions and give solutions where the case seemed impossible. Through it all, he went back to his King, at the table asking for advice and guidance. Leaving all his cares and worries at the feet of the One who knew his heart.
Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with him in whatever you do, and he will lead you wherever you go.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (TPT)
For some of us, we have to write this verse down and pin it to our wall. As if writing down our resolution for 2022, rather the solution. Calm down and listen, turn down the sprinklers. The rain is falling, and for now, that is all you need, His provision.
